A Whole Day Excursion to London
Wednesday 9th October 2019
By Michael Frayn
Garrick Theatre Charing Cross Road 14:30
Noises Off is my favourite comedy ever and Meera Syal is one of my favourite actresses. When it was announced it was coming to the Garrick Theatre I jumped at the chance to get tickets. As group tickets are set at a total of just 50 seats allowed per performance and it is a short run I wasn’t hopeful, but we have been allocated 50 great stalls tickets for this date and I am now jumping for joy!
If you enjoy a good farce and a good laugh, this is a must see.
After a run at Lyric Hammersmith acclaimed by critics and audience alike, Michael Frayn’s classic backstage comedy Noises Off transfers to the Garrick Theatre this September. Noises Off follows the cast of the disastrous flop Nothing On, following the mishaps and fumbles both on and off stage as the show goes from rehearsal to performance. Anything that can go wrong does, in this hilarious, high-energy farce that will have you rolling in the aisles.
Reprising their roles from the Lyric production, Meera Syal (The Kumars), Daniel Rigby (One Man, Two Guvnors), Lloyd Owen (The York Realist) and Simon Rouse (The Full Monty) will all be part of the Garrick cast. Further casting to be announced.
Writer Michael Frayn has had an illustrious career spanning plays, novels and film, with Noises Off having won him the 1982 Olivier Award for Best Comedy.
This rip-roaring production, directed by Jeremy Herrin (All My Sons, This House, Wolf Hall), is currently bringing the house down at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.
"It is quite simply a masterpiece." ***** WhatsOnStage
